Blue Lava, the first cybersecurity company to deliver a security program management platform built by and for the security community, recently announced the appointment of David Walter as the company’s new CEO. Walter joins Blue Lava at a strategic moment as the company readies for business expansion.
Blue Lava’s offerings are designed to help CISOs communicate the business value of security in the boardroom and win budget approval for security initiatives. Built on a community-sourced model, Blue Lava guides security leaders to measure, optimize, and communicate the strategic value of their cybersecurity program quickly, confidently, and aligned to business objectives.
Walter brings to the company over 25 years of experience as both a practitioner and vendor in the risk management and cybersecurity markets. Previously, Walter was vice president at RSA Archer, instrumental in leading the strategy and execution of Archer’s leading Governance, Risk, and Compliance solution. In addition, Walter is an active advisor to several Venture Capital and Private Equity firms, assisting with their investment strategies in the cybersecurity and risk management markets, and advisor to start-ups striving to scale their own businesses.
In his role as CEO at Blue Lava, Walter will use his vast industry experience to champion continued market adoption and growth of the Blue Lava platform across diverse enterprises. “I’m eager to build upon the existing momentum at Blue Lava during this exciting period of growth. I’m a strong believer in Blue Lava’s community-centric approach. It’s a game-changer to give CISOs a management solution that helps them move up the security maturity ladder. We are positioned to make a distinct and positive impact in cybersecurity – by making CISOs more successful at what they do. The opportunity to join a company with such a strong belief in building and supporting security leaders is a rewarding experience,” Walter said.
Blue Lava uniquely combines comprehensive, on-demand maturity assessments with strategy and roadmap planning to help security leaders baseline their entire program, prioritize and plan their security investments, and effectively communicate their needs to the board and other stakeholders. It has been met with resounding success by its clients. Accordingly, the need for the platform’s unique framework has positioned the company for sharp market growth and expansion opportunities.
“David has been a guiding force to many security companies, including Blue Lava in its early stages. His established familiarity with the daily challenges of security executives, accented by his experience in operating and scaling both startup and enterprise cybersecurity companies will be transformational. We look forward to working with him at this exciting time for the company,” said Jay Leek, Blue Lava Board member and Managing Partner of ClearSky Security.
