Convergint, a global leader in service-based systems integration, today announced a new joint venture with Chard Metis Dene Inc. (CMD), an economic development entity for the Chard Metis Community Association. Located south of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, the Chard Metis Community Association is dedicated to prioritizing their traditions and maintaining their connection to the land and recognizes that they must strive for economic independence to preserve their ways. This unique partnership will focus on providing education and skill development, career opportunities, and community growth.
As the Chard Metis Community Association’s economic entity, CMD identifies gateways for prosperity by fostering partnerships with companies within their communities to create additional funding opportunities. All monetary proceeds derived from these partnerships help fund the Chard Metis Community Association’s cultural and social programs. Convergint’s venture with CMD will be the first Indigenous partnership of its kind to provide electronic security, fire and life safety, communications, financial safety, healthcare technologies, building automation, facility efficiency, and mechanical solutions to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, as well as other federal, provincial, and municipal clients. Additionally, Convergint remains committed to bringing technology training and employment opportunities to the community, resulting in new skill development and growth.
