The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) is warning Australian businesses about cybercriminals using LockBit 2.0 ransomware to target a variety of industries and demand ransom.
The Australian Cyber Security Centre announced in a statement this week that it has received allegations of LockBit 2.0 ransomware being used by a number of Australian businesses. Cybercriminals that use ransomware lock files and demand a ransom, but they also threaten to broadcast stolen data on the Internet if businesses refuse to pay.
The makers of the LockBit 2.0 ransomware, according to ACSC, are offering the malware as a ransomware-as-a-service model.
