The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has updated its Essential Eight implementation guide, making all of the Essential Eight techniques mandatory. Because of their complementary nature and focus on distinct cyber risks, the Essential Eight Maturity Model currently emphasizes the adoption of all eight mitigation methods as a package, according to the ACSC.
Before graduating to a higher maturity level, organizations should fully achieve a maturity level across all eight mitigation strategies. While the maturity model is concentrated on Windows-based internet-connected networks and can be applied to other situations, other mitigation measures may be more suited, according to the ACSC.
