Kaseya, the IT management and software firm, has recently announced that the latest ransomware outbreak has affected more than 1,500 companies. However, there was no evidence of malicious alterations in the product source code.
Right after the cyber-attack, the firm had urged consumers to shut down on-premises servers running its VSA endpoint management as well as the network monitoring solution. Later it was found to have exploited a zero-day vulnerability in the product.
Various MSPs use Kaseya products, and the malicious actors delivered the ransomware to the users of those MSPs. Basically, it is expected that this attack crashed around 1,500 downstream enterprises.
