With the release of a decryptor, the hacking research collective SRLabs and consulting think tank have made it possible for victims of the Black Basta ransomware to restore their files without paying a dime.
With over 300 successful attacks to date and an estimated USD 100 million in ransom payments, Black Basta is one of the most active ransomware families, having been active since at least April 2022.
Black Basta, who is thought to be associated with the notorious Conti group, has taken credit for a number of well-known hacks, including those that occurred at ABB, Capita, Maple Leaf Foods, Rheinmetall, and Thales. They have stolen victims’ data and threatened to make it public unless they receive a ransom.
