Box has announced it is rolling out automated malware detection and controls in Box Shield, the cloud content management platform’s security product. The move comes from Box to combat the increasing number of phishing and malware attacks as more and more people are working from home. After identifying the malware, Box will automatically alert the end-user, restrict downloads and sharing of malicious files, and notify IT and security teams. Box Shield will be available by the end of the month.
When malware is detected within Box, users are prevented from downloading or sharing it, and security teams are notified. Customers will be able to safely preview and edit files in Box with visibility into a file’s security risk.
