Brazil Halts Meta's Use of Personal Data for AI Training Amid Privacy Concerns

The National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) of Brazil has suspended Meta’s new privacy policy, which involved using personal data to train Gen AI systems in the country. ANPD’s decision halts the processing of personal data across all Meta products, even for people who are not platform users.

While the Brazilian authority asked Meta to revise its privacy policy to remove the section related to processing personal data for Gen AI training, Meta also emphasized transparency, asserting that its approach aligns with Brazilian privacy laws and regulations.

Moreover, the company must issue an official statement confirming the suspension of personal data processing for this purpose.
