The Broward Health hospital system has confirmed that it has suffered a data breach in October where hacker accessed personal and medical information of patients and staff.
The hospital statement said the intruder accessed all information including names, birthdays, addresses, banking information, social security numbers, drivers’ license numbers, patient histories and treatment and diagnosis record.
On Oct 15, the intruder gained access to its network through a third-part medical provider that was allowed to access its systems. On Oct 19, the Broward Health detected the intrusion and notified the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice.
