The company that owns CBS and Paramount, National Amusements, has begun notifying more than 80,000 people that a data breach that occurred in December 2022 exposed their personal information.
According to the company’s notification letter to the affected parties, which was also forwarded to the Maine Attorney General’s Office, the incident was discovered on December 15, 2022. National Amusements claims that between December 13 and December 15, 2022, hackers gained access to the company’s network and read or exfiltrated files that contained personal data.
According to the company, the information that is affected consists of credit/debit card numbers, names, and other personal identifiers “in combination with security code, access code, password or PIN for the account” as well as financial account numbers.
