Google has recently announced that it is working to improve the security of Chrome users. The tech giant would send an alert (a warning text) while filling out forms on any secure pages, which are delivered insecurely. This is set to be introduced into Chrome 86 – the feature will focus on the mixed forms that are considered a risk to the users’ privacy and security.
The Chrome versions before 86 marks mixed forms by eliminating the lock icon from the address bar of the browser. According to Shweta Panditrao, Software Engineer at Chrome Security Team, “We saw that users found this experience unclear and it did not effectively communicate the risks associated with submitting data in insecure forms.”
