Google is introducing new user protection features to Chrome, including Device Bound Session Credentials (DBSC), a new technology that connects browser login sessions to the device to combat cookie theft.
The Web Incubator Community Group (WICG) developed DBSC in the open, which is planned to become an open standard. DBSC uses authentication with a private key to secure users’ sessions. Cookies are small pieces of code written by visited websites and saved on devices that improve users’ browsing experiences.
However, they act as bearer-token systems and can be misused to compromise web accounts.
