ChromeLoader is a ubiquitous and persistent browser hijacker that presents as a browser extension, altering victims’ Chrome settings and routing traffic to ad websites. According to researchers, victims on Windows devices get infected with the malware using ISO files posing as a cracked video game or pirated films or TV shows.
Researchers warn that the malvertisers’ use of PowerShell could allow it to go beyond its basic capabilities and transmit ransomware, spyware, or steal data from browser sessions.
