This week, the US cybersecurity agency, CISA, introduced the FOCAL plan for Federal Civilian Executive Branch agencies. The plan aims to unify and improve cybersecurity across federal agencies, which currently have varied effectiveness in managing cyber risks due to a lack of a consistent security posture.
The FOCAL plan will standardize key operational cybersecurity components and practices across agencies and at an interagency level. It highlights five priority areas: asset management, vulnerability management, defensible architecture, cyber supply chain risk management, and incident detection and response.
