CISA and the NSA have released new guidelines to strengthen organizations’ baseboard management controllers (BMCs). BMCs are specialized service processors typically found on motherboards, responsible for monitoring the physical condition of a system and collecting data such as temperature, voltage, humidity, and fan speeds.
Unlike the operating system and firmware (e.g., BIOS and UEFI), the BMC operates independently and enables remote management and control, even when the system is powered off, as long as it remains connected to a power source.
