Clorox disclosed in an SEC filing that it will incur tens of millions of dollars in expenses due to the destructive cyberattack it endured a year ago.
In August 2023, Clorox was the target of a cyberattack that forced the company to shut down many of its systems. The incident caused wide-ranging disruptions that had an effect on sales and profits. These disruptions included delays in order processing and severe product shortages. By the end of 2023, the company reported that the cyberattack had cost it USD 49 million.
These expenses consist of the money paid to outside parties brought in to assist with the attack investigation and cleanup, in addition to any losses resulting from disruptions.
