Western Digital has taken action to restrict entry to its cloud services for devices utilizing firmware versions affected by a well-known and severe security vulnerability. This action was initiated on June 15, a month after the release of firmware updates by the company for its My Cloud product line.
The updates were intended to resolve various security flaws, including a critical path traversal bug that could result in remote code execution (RCE). The identified vulnerability affects Western Digital’s My Cloud Home, SanDisk ibi, My Cloud Home Duo, and My Cloud OS 5 devices.
