Cloudflare has unveiled several of the security updates this week, including a new web application firewall (WAF) engine, as well as email and API security capabilities. The new email security tools, recently announced, are an outcome of Cloudflare’s recent acquisition of Area 1 Security.

The web performance and security start-up has also made its new WAF engine and managed rulesets available to all customers for free. The goal is to assist small-business owners and developers in protecting their products from high-impact vulnerabilities like the recent Log4j problems.
