The US federal government will issue cyber-security regulations in the coming days for its pipeline operators following a ransomware attack – which led to utility shortages spanning the Eastern Seaboard.
The Security Administration is expected to issue a security directive soon that will address grave issues raised by the Colonial Pipeline shutdown.
The Department of Homeland Security refused to confirm any specifics of the pending directive, with a statement that TSA and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency are working with private firms to address cyber threats. As mentioned, “The Biden Administration is taking further action to better secure our nation’s critical infrastructure.”
