Based in Helsinki, Finland F-Secure discovered exploitable flaws in over 150 HP multi-function printers. In the spring of 2021, it presented its findings to HP. On November 1, HP provided firmware updates and advisories for the printers. F-Secure has now released a report on its findings.
The researchers at F-Secure uncovered two attack vectors: one that requires physical access and another that can be launched remotely from a malicious website. Vulnerabilities in the HP printers show that any device that connects to a network can expand the perceived threat surface.
