Cyber-Attack Disrupts Alabama County’s Complete Network

A suspected ransomware attack has resulted in the temporary closure of Alabama’s computer network. Chilton County has implemented a shutdown after being targeted by a suspected ransomware attack on July 7. Joseph Parnell, County Commission Chairman, has recently announced the incident on Facebook.

This incident has to lead to temporary disruption to Alabama’s computer records systems, including the probate court and tag office records.

People needing such services provided by various departments need to check with the clerks in the particular department before approaching the courthouse to ensure that all needed records are accessible. Because of the attack, local records required by the courthouse associated with the performance of its regular services have been rendered unavailable.
