Aurubis, a German copper producer, has reported that it was the victim of a cyberattack and had to shut down its IT systems to stop it from spreading.
With 6,900 employees worldwide, Aurubis is the second-largest copper producer in the world and the largest in Europe. It generates one million tons of copper cathodes annually. Aurubis claims that while they shut down a number of systems at their locations, the production was unaffected, according to a statement on their website. The business is still evaluating the effects of the cyberattack at this time, and it is collaborating closely with the authorities to hasten the process.
