It appears that a cyberattack has badly disrupted the systems and operations of First American Financial Corporation and a number of its subsidiaries.
First American offers settlement services and title insurance to the mortgage and real estate sectors. On December 21, the business announced that it had taken some systems offline due to a “cybersecurity incident.”
The company informed customers that email systems had been taken offline and advised them to be cautious of potentially malicious emails posing as coming from First American, First American Title, or FirstAm.com in an update that was released the following day.
