According to a report from Sophos, 70% of enterprises have experienced a public cloud security breach in the last year. It comprised of ransomware, malware, exposed data, and compromised accounts. A third of the companies said that cybercriminals gained access through stolen cloud provider account credentials. Enterprises running multi-cloud environments are more likely to suffer a cloud security incident than those running a single cloud.
The report notes that Europeans suffered the lowest percentage of security breaches in the cloud. This indicates that compliance with GDPR guidelines is helping to protect organizations from being compromised.
