On Thursday ET 12:45 a.m., Equinix acknowledged that ransomware had infiltrated into some of the company’s data center locations. BleepingComputer reported, Netwalker, the ransomware gang attacked a ransom equal to $4.5 million to stop the release of the stolen data. However, Equinix didn’t provide a response to the BleepingComputer report.

Post the attack, the company’s data centers and service offerings remain fully operational, as the company’s team took quick and decisive action to prevent the spread of the attacks. Equinix has notified law enforcement and continues to investigate the attack impact and vulnerabilities in its infrastructure.
