VMWare has issued a warning that exploit code has been published online, just days after releasing a significant security update to address vulnerabilities in its Aria Operations for Networks product line.
The industry leader in virtualization technology acknowledged in an updated advisory the public release of exploit code that gives hackers a path to get around SSH authentication and access the Aria Operations for Networks command line interface.
The issue is described as a case where VMWare “forgot to regenerate” SSH keys in the exploit code and root-cause analysis, which were published by SinSinology researcher Sina Kheirkhah.
The exploit code’s public release makes it even more urgent for network administrators to apply the available patches from VMware.
