The parent company of Facebook, Meta, stated on Thursday that Russian state actors and others are attempting to use the social media platform against Ukraine through deception, hacking, and coordinated bullying campaigns.
Social media platforms have become one of the front lines in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, providing both inaccurate and real-time coverage of one of the world’s most serious geopolitical crises in decades.
“Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, our teams have been on high alert to detect and block threats and platform misuse, including attempts by networks we previously deleted to resurface,” Meta wrote in its most recent threat report.
