In lieu of the far-reaching hacking campaign that exploited software made by SolarWinds and other vendors, US intelligence agencies have initiated a review of supply chain threats originating from Russia, according to a top Justice Department official.
According to John Demers, the assistant attorney general for national security, the investigation will focus on any supply chain vulnerabilities arising from Russian companies — or US companies doing business in Russia.
The White House blames Russia’s SVR foreign intelligence agency for the espionage activity, which abused SolarWinds software and breached at least nine US federal agencies.
