Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, has revealed that its Foxconn Baja California factory in Tijuana was struck by ransomware in late May.
The 5,000-person facility specialises in consumer electronics, industrial operations, and medical gadgets. Foxconn stated that it is working to restore normal operations at the factory, but did not specify a timeline for completion.
The impact of the attack on the electronics company’s overall operations is expected to be limited, according to the company. Foxconn said it has been giving “relevant information” regarding the incident to management, clients, and suppliers, but it did not say if it has contacted the attackers or intended to pay a ransom.
