A data breach at the French government’s unemployment agency Pole Emploi most likely exposed the private information of about 10 million people.
The organization, which records unemployed people, offers them financial aid, and assists them in finding new jobs, claims to have learned about the incident just over a week ago.
According to the organization, the data breach was caused by a cyberattack on one of its service providers, and no Pole Emploi systems were impacted.
Names and social security numbers are among the information from people who registered with the organization up until February 2022 that was compromised during the attack, according to Pole Emploi.
