Google has announced that it has successfully acquired cybersecurity services and threat intelligence provider Mandiant for USD 5.4 billion in cash.
The agreement was first disclosed in March 2022. Mandiant, regarded as a top incident response company monitoring the operation of advanced nation-state threat groups, was first bought by FireEye in December 2013. In a USD 1.2 billion private equity deal, the two companies were split up in late 2021, separating Mandiant Solutions from FireEye’s endpoint protection and cloud security offerings. Mandiant will remain a part of Google Cloud while keeping its Mandiant name.
To support its cloud computing portfolio, Google is investing in cybersecurity, and in 2012, it bolstered its own security lineup by acquiring Siemplify to complement the VirusTotal malware analysis platform and the Chronicle SIEM platform.
