Google has released an emergency security update for Chrome 99 to address the existing vulnerability of public exploit.

Traced as CVE-2022-1096 and considered to be extremely severe, the security hole is defined as a Type Confusion bug in V8 JavaScript and a WebAssembly engine. The internet search giant claims the error was reported by an anonymous researcher, and the company has not yet received a bug report.

“Google is aware that the exploitation of CVE-2022-1096 exists in the wild,” notes the company in its advice, without providing further details about the risks or the perceived exploits. A patch for this flaw has been installed on Chrome 99.0.4844.84, now for Windows, Mac and Linux users.
