Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) has hacked a blockchain-enabled botnet known as Glupteba, which is made up of about 1 million Windows devices and Internet of Things (IoT) vulnerabilities.
Meanwhile, Google also filed a lawsuit against botnet operators. Glupteba, already a terrifying presence worldwide, which is growing in thousands of new devices per day, according to TAG.
It is spreading through fraudulent hacking software, fake YouTube videos, malicious documents, traffic distribution programs and more, the researchers said. Once installed, it starts with stealing user information and data, mining cryptocurrencies from infected hackers, and setting up proxies to generate more online traffic with infected and hacked machines.
