Google will begin encouraging more Gmail users and Google Account holders to allow two-step authentication, an additional layer of protection that can protect people if their accounts are phished or exposed in a data breach.
Mark Risher, Director of Product Management in Google’s Identity and User Security group, said in a blogpost “Soon we’ll start automatically enrolling users in 2SV if their accounts are appropriately configured. (You can check the status of your account in our Security Checkup).”
