Google’s Unattended Project Reminder tool has been made available to the general public. Its goal is to increase cloud utilization while also addressing security concerns raised by defunct cloud computing projects.
Unattended Project Reminder, part of Google Cloud’s Active Assist, can be beneficial in lowering security risks by identifying old efforts that no longer require network access, cloud resources, or supporting APIs, like a prototyping project.
Google is working on the functionality until 2021 as part of a prototype targeted at cleaning up unmanaged internal projects.
According to Google Cloud, the issue of unattended projects has been on the radar of Google’s internal security team for some time.
