The top national security agencies in the US issued a joint statement claiming that Russia is likely to be responsible for the massive hack of US administration corporations. However, the report rejected the claim of Donald Trump that indicated China was to be blamed.
It represented the government’s first formal attempt to figure out details of the breaches at multiple agencies – in order to understand the motive for the operation.
It appears to be intended for intelligence and data gathering, and the evidence is towards a Russian spy. The efforts do not indicate any attempt to disrupt or damage the nation’s critical operations.
