The healthcare industry comprising hospitals, health systems, doctor’s offices, and consultants has recorded a 75% spike in ransomware attacks from H1 2019 to H2 2019. The report says 75% of healthcare industry do not use email scanning and filtering tools. Open portals and phishing emails are the primary attack vectors for ransomware attacks. These services are associated with a 33% reduction in the likelihood of attacks. The report says hospitals have larger attack surfaces, just about average in size for the web overall which puts them at a higher risk for an attack via an open port.
