Unknown members of the famed Conti ransomware gang have been revealing internal documents regarding the gang following its endorsement of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The leaks began in late February, just days after Russia invaded Ukraine, with the leaker making it abundantly obvious that he or she was doing so in support of Ukraine. The released document, dubbed the “Panama Papers of ransomware” by John Fokker, Trellix’s chief of investigations, provides a glimpse into the inner workings and activities of the ransomware gang.
The files leaked contain conversation logs, infrastructure, and information about the gang’s economy. Notably, certain correspondence reveals Conti’s ties to the Kremlin and the Russian government.
