Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has launched Code Verify, an open source browser extension that verifies the validity of code served to the browser.
Code Verify is based on the concept of sub-resource integrity – in which browsers verify the integrity of a fetched file – but extends the concept to all resources on a webpage, utilising Cloudflare as a trusted third party.
According to Meta, WhatsApp Web users can now use the plugin to verify that the application has not been tampered with or altered. Code Verify was released for Chrome and Microsoft Edge and will soon arrive on Firefox as well.
