The malware, known as NodeStealer, was created to collect cookies, usernames, and passwords from browsers, including Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Opera, to compromise internet accounts. It was originally discovered by Meta, neutralizing it by contacting the proper service providers.
NodeStealer was also making unauthorized request to Facebook URLs to retrieve account details related to advertising.
Meta cautioned that hackers are using the security of generative AI like ChatGPT to mislead people into installing malware on their devices.
