vpnMentor’s research team, headed by Noam Rotem, recently discovered a data leak that seems to have been caused by one of the world’s largest corporations, Microsoft.
Internal data stored on a misconfigured Microsoft Azure cloud storage account was exposed as part of the breach. The files seemed to come from a series of pitches to Microsoft Dynamics from a variety of companies competing for a project or a partnership with the company.
The source codes for the software applications were used in many of the pitches, and some of them were ultimately released to the market. As a result, some well-known companies’ extremely confidential internal data was leaked, as well as information about their activities and product lines.
