Microsoft has launched the Secure Future Initiative (SFI) to improve cybersecurity, setting a Cybersecurity Governance Council led by CISO Igor Tsyganskiy.
This initiative, a response to a US government critique of Microsoft’s security, aims to integrate security into the company culture, affecting even performance reviews. The council, managed by Deputy CISOs for various domains, including gaming, cloud, AI, and government systems, oversees an unprecedented effort involving 34,000 engineers.
The initiative also introduces security leaders for key engineering divisions like Azure and AI. Progress is reviewed weekly, with quarterly updates to the Board, linking compensation to security performance.
