Microsoft’s Security Intelligence team has revealed the operation behind Trickbot sent out hundreds of emails purporting to relate to COVID-19 medical advice and testing. All of these emails installed Trickbot malware via unique “macro-laced” malicious document attachments inside the message.

Trickbot was initially a banking Trojan, but it is now mainly used in attacks to drop additional malware like ransomware, VNC clients, and remote access malware.
