Mirai Botnet Actors Target Security Flaws in Realtek Devices

Mirai-based botnet actors have been discovered targeting multiple security vulnerabilities in software used by 65 network equipment suppliers. The attackers are exploiting command injection flaws that were discovered in Realtek chipsets just a few days ago.

Researchers at SAM Seamless Network discovered that the vulnerabilities in Realtek devices were being exploited in the wild within 48 hours of their disclosure. These major security flaws can be found in device Software Development Kits (SDK).

Realtek has also issued an advisory for CVE-2021-35392, CVE-2021-35393, CVE-2021-35394, and CVE-2021-35395, all of which have a severity level of more than 8.1.
