Morgan Stanley has told New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella that one of its contractors was hacked using the Accellion FTA vulnerability, exposing customer information like Social Security numbers.
Morgan Stanley claimed in a letter dated July 2 that Guidehouse, a vendor that offers account maintenance services to Morgan Stanley’s StockPlan Connect business, notified them on May 20 that their system had been compromised.
An unauthorized individual got the information of several StockPlan Connect participants, including those in New Hampshire. Morgan Stanley said it sends a secure file of existing StockPlan long stockholders due for escheatment to Guidehouse “on a regular basis.”
