New DeadBolt Ransomware Attacks Target QNAP Devices-01

Censys, an internet search engine, has warned that a fresh wave of DeadBolt ransomware assaults is targeting QNAP network-attached storage (NAS) devices.

The DeadBolt ransomware encrypts files on infected devices and demands that victims pay a ransom of 0.03 bitcoin ($1,200) in order to retrieve their contents. The malware’s creators also want 5 bitcoin ($200,000) from QNAP in exchange for information about the vulnerabilities they exploited, and 50 bitcoin ($2 million) in exchange for a master key that can be used to restore all victims’ files. In January, QNAP issued a warning to consumers regarding DeadBolt attacks, urging them to update their QTS operating systems to the most recent version and limit their devices’ susceptibility.
