NIST Officially Releases Cybersecurity Framework 2.0

NIST has announced the official release of version 2.0 of its Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), which is the first major update since its inception a decade ago.

The cybersecurity framework was originally designed for critical infrastructure organizations, but it has since become widely used and recommended, with NIST emphasizing that CSF 2.0 is intended to assist all organizations in reducing risks, regardless of sector, size, or level of security sophistication.

Based on feedback on the draft of the Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, NIST expanded the core guidance and developed additional resources to assist organizations in maximizing the CSF’s potential. The CSF 2.0 supports the National Cybersecurity Strategy by identifying, protecting, detecting, responding, recovering, and governing.
