The cybersecurity firm Okta has warned of a recent surge in credential-stuffing attacks that use anonymizing services. It includes the Tor network and residential proxies such as DataImpulse, Luminati, and NSocks.
In these attacks, stolen usernames and passwords are used to compromise valid accounts at targeted organizations. Okta believes a recent increase in brute-force campaigns using similar infrastructure may be linked to the spike in credential-stuffing activity.
To protect against such attacks, Okta recommends good password hygiene, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and monitoring for anomalous behavior.
