A new study from RiskRecon reveals that one-third of organizations within the digital supply chain exposes common network services such as data storage, remote access, and network administration to the internet. Companies that expose unsafe services to the internet also exhibit more critical security findings. Failing to patch software via updates, and not implementing web encryption are two of the most prevalent security risks associated with unsafe services.
According to the report, the sudden shift to remote work and the increasing adoption of digital transformation should be taken into consideration by organizations. Remote access is the second most commonly exposed service and it is important for admins to consider restricting the accessibility of these services only to authorized and internal users.
