Officials have confirmed that the hackers who crippled a French hospital and stole a vast amount of data last month have posted patient personal information online.
A month ago, the Corbeil-Essonnes hospital, which is close to Paris, was threatened with a multimillion-dollar ransom demand. The hospital claimed that the hackers had now leaked patient identifiers, medical scans, and lab results. According to AFP, a cybersecurity expert is concerned that other thieves will now use the information that has already been made public to launch scams.
The hospital severely restricted access to its systems in response to the leak over the weekend and advised patients to be extremely watchful when receiving emails, texts, or phone calls.
